5 Day Instructor-Led Training Course 

The uniquely management-focused CISM certification promotes international security practices and recognizes the individual who manages, designs, and oversees and assesses an enterprise’s information security.

Who Should Attend: Experienced information security managers and those who have information security management responsibilities, including IT consultants, auditors, managers, security policy writers, privacy officers, information security officers, network administrators, security device administrators, and security engineers.

Pre-Requisites: Five years of experience with audit, IT systems, and security of information systems; systems administration experience; familiarity with TCP/IP; and an understanding of UNIX, Linux, and Windows. This advanced course also requires intermediate-level knowledge of the security concepts. 

The CISM designation is awarded to individuals with an interest in security management who meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully pass the exam.
  • Adhere to ISACA's Code of Professional Ethics.
  • Agree to comply with the continuing education policy.
  • Work experience in the field of Information Security.
  • Submit an application for the CISM Certification.

Experience Substitutions: 
The following security-related certifications and information systems management experience can be used to satisfy the indicated amount of information security work experience.

Two Years:

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) in good standing
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) in good standing
  • Post-graduate degree in information security or a related field (e.g., business administration, information systems, information assurance)

One Year:

  • One full year of information systems management experience
  • One full year of general security management experience
  • Skill-based security certifications (e.g., SANS Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA Security +, Disaster Recovery Institute Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), ESL IT Security Manager)
  • Completion of an information security management program at an institution aligned with the Model Curriculum

Exam Details: 

  • The CISM exam consist of 150 multiple choice questions  that cover the respective job practice areas created from the most recent job
    practice analysis.
  • Length of Exam: 4 hours
  • Registration Process: The current registration window is for exams February 1-May 24, 2019.  Registration ends May 18, 2019.    It is important to verify there is a test site available before registering and paying for the exam. You can verify availability by checking the exam schedule.

Register your personnel to attend our in-person, open enrollment classes in our Metro Atlanta training facility. Need to train eight or more students? Ask about private classes. All courses include all essential training materials. Optional exam vouchers and testing are available on the final day for most courses.

Live Online-Based Training (ILT): Our “Live Online” format offers virtual training opportunities. Students can attend live classes in real time, from any location, using video and audio streaming technology. For some courses, students may sit for exams remotely. Exam vouchers are available for purchase for testing at Pearson VUE testing facilities in different areas.
